All About “Nennie”

Jennifer Walker Myers, fondly known to her nieces and nephews as “Nennie,” served as an inspiration to many during her strong and courageous battle with cancer over the course of ten years. Initially diagnosed with cervical cancer and faced with two subsequent recurrences, Jenn advocated for herself and underwent multiple treatments and a clinical trial to continue thriving. She also served as a patient advocate through Cervivor and other organizations, using her voice to tell her story and fight for greater resources in the field of cancer research.

Jenn was known for always having a smile on her face and sharing her infectious laugh. She discouraged others from shedding tears for her, instead asking her fellow cancer warriors to stay strong and “thrive” for her.

Always a philanthropist at heart, during Jenn’s final months, she conceptualized The Nennie Foundation. Jenn recognized that she was fortunate in her cancer experience to have excellent access to healthcare and a broad network of support. The Nennie Foundation aims to help those who are not as fortunate by providing financial support to cancer patients surrounding their healthcare needs.
